Digital Media Training Initiative
Áras Inis Gluaire will run a series of part-time introductory and professional level training courses in the digital media sector as part of Tógra na Meáin, the North West Mayo Digital Media Initiative. Tógra na Meáin is a partnership between Áras Inis Gluaire and Mayo Ideas Lab and is receiving funding from the Fiontar Chomhraic Teo enterprise fund.Tógra na Meáin will offer a number of introductory courses in conjunction with Galway Film Centre. These include an introductory course on Documentary Making which will be held over four weekends commencing in April 2010, and the introductory Film Foundation course, which will be offered over seven weekends, commencing in May 2010. It is intended that other courses such as the Introduction to Animation (over three weekends) and From Ideas to Script (four Saturdays over eight weeks) as well as a series of intermediate and professional level training will be also be offered over the coming months, in line with the needs of existing companies in the locality. Because courses are being subsidised, places will be limited and will be allocated on a competitive basis.
The programme will commence with a series of information seminars to be held at 5.30pm on Friday 19th March in Áras Inis Gluaire, Belmullet, and at 10am on Saturday 20th March in Crossmolina (venue to be confirmed). Experts in the area of film, documentary making and animation will be present. The seminars will be free to attend and open to all.
